Program Director’s Update for 7/26/2008

If you've yet to sample the joys of running in TT this month - well - you're in for a treat.  Indeed, it is the weight loss capital of Florida, but you needed to replace those worn out old electrolytes anyway.  And with the rain we've been having, there is no substantial shortage of water.  Come on - get out there - get some miles in.  Actually, it is best you get acclimated and we can help you with that!

Low miles this weekend for all but NY, San Antonio and Duke:  11-17 miles.

All groups are checked in so get onto www.tampa262.com and get in the groove.  Runners doing longer miles will be starting early (and I mean early), and will not be returning to the parking lot but meeting at the 10 mile mark.  Find out who, when, and where on tampa262.  All other runners will be meeting in the library or school parking lot at 5:50 a.m.  Mileage here varies, so be on time and get in the swim.  Please see me if you need a schedule adjustment or a schedule for an upcoming event.  Doesn't have to be a marathon. . . We will be trying to leave promptly at 6 a.m. so be there - and bring some mosquito repellant, you're going to need it.  I ran in Lakeland this morning and I think I was carried up the hill at 6:30 a.m. on the wings of all the mosquitoes who were trying to get a sip of me.

Be prepared.  Dress accordingly.  It is very hot.  It is very humid.  When the sun comes out, it is very hot and very humid and sunny.  Coolers are available throughout the course starting at 2 miles.  Again at 8 and at the 10 mile mark.  This weekend they are being brought to you by courtesy of Darla.....THANK YOU!  Be sure and partake at every cooler.  If something special works for you, bring it with you, and make sure you bring enough for your total miles.  If you haven't supplied the coolers yet, bring it on:  small bottles please.  A case of water and/or a case of Gatorade, PowerAde, G2, Propel - whatever suits your fancy.  We'll need to keep the coolers stocked well.

Remember also that Saturdays you are trying for endurance and long miles.  If you think you need to slow down to get your miles in - then you probably do - so do it.

AUGUST 16:  That's the day for Magic Mile and we'll also be having a Watermelon Parking Lot Party.  This will be at the rec center parking lot.  Stay tuned!

Linda is traveling this weekend.  I will be in the parking lot at 5:50 a.m.  Come on out and let's get some miles in.  Check www.tampa262.com for details.  And I'll see you Saturday!

Iris and Linda
