Program Director Update for 11/22/2008

Hello Runners,
This weekend we should have some nice cool running weather for long
runners. Miami Marathoners will be doing 17-20 miles, Gasparilla marathon
will be doing 13-15 miles and the Jacksonville marathon will be running
15-17 miles this weekend. Next week after Thanksgiving, Disney
marathoners will be running 20-23 miles. We have some nice weather for the
long mileage. Do you have enough GU? How much mileage is on your shoes?
Do you need a new pair?
There is a chance that we may need gloves and hats this weekend. The
temperature is projected to be 50 degrees for a low but should feel like 48
degrees. Anyway you look at it; the temperature will be cooler than usual.
Check with your group leaders about starting times. Some will be starting
at 4 am and some at 5 am. If you are running around 10 miles, Iris will be
in the parking lot at 5:50 am. Lynn Culbreath had a clever cliché about
starting at 4am. She said that you get 10 miles in before you wake up, it
is called sleep running! That is another good reason to never run alone.
Please mark your calendars for December 20th. Iris and Linda are planning
a holiday breakfast in the parking lot after the run. We are planning a fun
and festive time complete with door prizes and egg nog. Plan to be there to
celebrate the holidays with your running friends.
Tina will be providing hydration support this weekend. Thank you so much
Tina. One of the best times during the long run is enjoying a little
hydration drink at the rec center!
Congratulations to Roxanne Riley. She finished the inaugural San Antonio
Marathon last weekend! She is still in training for the Miami Marathon in
January. Way to go Roxanne!
We hope to see you all out this weekend. The holidays are upon us and you
need to run off all those extra calories. Come on out with bells on, or
without.
Iris and Linda
