Program Director’s Update for 11/15/2008

Hello Fellow Road Warriors,

This missive is going to be short and sweet.  I know, you can't believe that right - who's writing this??  It's me..Iris.  Well, pull up the attached cartoon and you'll get the drift.  I am so sick I'm thinking of missing CSI - Las Vegas.  That has never ever happened.  Not even when I had surgery.  So this is a big step, and I'm not sure I'll be able to pull it off so I may take my medication and lay on the couch and maybe I'll catch enough of it to know what is going on.  Plus, I will also tape it.  There's nothing like CSI while you're painting something.  Sadly, I have acquired a really nasty bug from a 4-year-old!  She just laid around for a couple of days - she was aiming the death ray superbug at me - and now, well, I'd actually have to die to feel better.  My head hurts, my teeth enamel hurts, my neck hurts, and you can name a body part and it hurts - violently!

Here comes the short part:  This weekend there are no long runs scheduled.  Roxanne is headed to San Antonio (TX) to complete her marathon.  We wish you well, Roxanne!  Have fun, finish, and bring the bling!!!  We'll be waiting....

Peter, however, does have his first 10-miler so let's hear a big cheer for Peter.  He just joined us and he is training for the Gasparilla Marathon running it for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  He's a tad behind in the mileage but, we know how to build mileage.  Especially when the weather cooperates as it should.  Peter is currently running with Janet's groupies, and we'll get him to that finish line Saturday in style!

I remember my first 10-miler like it was yesterday.  We won't go into that.  None of that is going to happen to Peter.  Nope!

The time will be 5:50 a.m.  The usual place in the school parking lot.  Hopefully I will be able to make announcements.  Because I AM planning on being there.  I may be driving behind the group slowly but I will BE there.  Because then I have to get home and get  cracking on finishing the front porch.  December 10th is approaching quickly, and we have a ways to go.  Almost done with the inside; okay, kinda close!  So won't be able to hang for bagels.  But do come on out (5:50 a.m.) and catch me up on all your doings.  I really missed you all last weekend.  Linda won't be joining us this weekend.

And then 11/22 we have Miami for 17-20 miles; Jacksonville Breast Cancer Marathon is hitting 15-17 and Gasparilla will be logging 13-15.  Disney does a very long run, 20-23 miles, 11/29.

THANK YOU HYDRATION TEAM!  You're the best!  We couldn't do this without you!

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Linda and I will be hosting another Breakfast with Champions.  Yes, it was such great fun and the eats weren't bad either, and stay tuned for surprises (I have ideas - they're roaming around in there).  The date will be DECEMBER 20TH - yes, that a Saturday a.m.  Disney has their last long run soooooo there will be lots of Champions on hand to celebrate.  Probably will begin at 7 a.m. or later.  Make your plans now:  December 20:  Breakfast with Champions.

Come on out Saturday.  No pressure.  If you haven't been in a while, pick a mileage and Just Do It!

Have a great rest of the week!

Iris and Linda
