The meeting time will be 5:50 a.m. The school parking lot behind the library in TT. It'll be cool - HOORAY! It should be perfect running conditions. No excuses. Come on out and get some really good quality miles down.
We have welcomed back our fall marathoners. Twin Cities, Marine Corps, Chicago and New York have all come back joyously exhilarated from their efforts and the great time they had at their runs. Last week I was treated to Naty's NY memories and photos, and saw Lynn's gigundo medal. Wooohoooo.....Congratulations to everyone! You made us all so very proud, and you've passed on that fabulous spirit to get it done, and get it done with style!
Last week I was in the parking lot when Carmen, Chris and Zach came in from 20 miles!!! They looked awesome. It is amazing to me, even now, to think back to May and kick off and here we are, and here you are: 20 miles! What an amazing achievement. An achievement that will prepare you for your marathon goal.
The Goofies came in last Saturday too having completed 18 miles. Mary, Charlene and Mary Ellen: WOW squared! And that was after having run 10 miles on Friday. Looking good!
The mileage looks like this for this weekend:
-
Women's Half 8 miles 11/22 RACE DAY!
-
Philadelphia 7 miles 11/22 RACE DAY!
-
Memphis 23-26 miles
-
Disney 5 miles or base 10
-
Breast Cancer 13-15 miles
-
Gasparilla 4 miles or base 10
-
Goofy back-to-back 6 and 10 (6 is going to be run on Friday)
Looking for something new: Check these out for 2010. Dances with Dirt - 2/13/2010. Sounds like fun to me! But then I like running in the dirt. Dade City, Green Swamp. These trail runs are really different and so much fun. There's something for everybody here: 50 mile relay, 50 miler and 50K ultra and more to our liking is a half marathon and marathon. If you ever try a trail run, watch out, you might get hooked. (Do not even think about these if you are doing Gasp or BCM!!!)
March 21, 2010 is the inaugural half marathon in Fort DeSoto Park. Really neat place to run.
Just a heads up for everyone about the upcoming holiday. There are long miles and very long miles and ridiculously long miles on some schedules before and after the holiday weekend. Start talking to your group leaders and running and race buddies about how they will get done. I will not be in 11/21 - that's the Saturday before Thanksgiving, nor the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So make plans to get in your long miles. If you find that you need to work around the holidays and reschedule, remember to try to schedule a really long one earlier rather than later. It is much better to do a last long run 4 weeks before the marathon than 2 weeks. 2 weeks is not enough recovery time. Have your plans in place for the holiday, and then relax and just come out and run.
See you Saturday morning: 5:50 a.m. You know the place. If anyone needs any schedules, schedule adjustments, books, shirts, etc., please see Linda and me Saturday morning. And have fun when you run!
